About the Role:

Bioconjugation leader to join our peptide biologics research group. The successful candidate will work on the bioconjugation and characterization of novel peptide-protein conjugates to discover next-generation peptide-protein based therapeutics. Your expert knowledge in the bioconjugation field and proven design and synthetic accomplishments will enable you to have significant impact on Neurocrine's projects.

Peptide-antibody bioconjugate project leader, contributing to the design, synthesis and characterization of novel peptide conjugates to discover next-generation peptide-antibody based therapeutics. Responsible for delivering novel peptide-protein conjguate compounds identified within the company R&D roadmap

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Lead projects and teams towards agreed upon goals, ultimately working towards clinical candidate peptide-protein bioconjugate nomination

  • Design, synthesize and characterize peptide-protein conjugates using state-of-the-art bioconjugation, purification, analytical and biophysical techniques

  • Independent data-driven optimization of peptide-protein biologic SAR

  • Effective communication of scientific rationale, results and interpretation at project, team and departmental meetings, contributing to strategic discussions.

  • Active collaboration and sharing of expertise with colleagues

  • Builds and enhances internal and external professional relationships

  • Aid in recruiting of peptide group scientists

  • Management of junior scientists

  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • BS/BA and15+ years of experience or

  • MS/MA and 13+ years of experience or

  • PhD or equivalent and 7+ years of relevant experience

  • Proficient in all aspects of modern protein bioconjugation, peptide and protein purification and analysis

  • Experience in optimizing and delivering protein conjugates as candidates for clinical trial

  • Strong publication record of accomplishment

  • Strong understanding of peptide and protein structure and associated biophysical techniques to assess structure, stability and behavior in solution

  • Experience in formulation strategies for peptides and proteins

  • Motivated to maintain a strong laboratory presence along with design and planning activities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication abilities

  • Demonstration of cross-functional understanding related to drug development

  • Assimilates data and research findings outside of Neurocrine for application to new scientific projects

  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated ability working with / recommending a variety of laboratory equipment/tools

  • Prioritizes teamwork above all else

  • Exhibits leadership skill and ability, typically leads lower levels and/or indirect teams

  • Excellent computer, communications, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills

  • Sees broader picture, impact on multiple programs, teams and/or departments

  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $150,700.00-$218,500.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
