Job Announcement
The North Carolina Coastal Federation is currently seeking a part-time or contract-based Human Resources Manager. The Federation is a non-profit organization that has worked since 1982 to protect and restore the coast through education, advocacy, and habitat restoration and preservation. This position will report to the Coastal Federation’s headquarters office in Newport, NC at least one day per week.

 

SUMMARY: The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for supporting management of the 38 regular staff and seasonal interns at the N.C. Coastal Federation. The position is based at the Federation’s headquarters office in Newport NC, but travel to our offices in Wrightsville Beach and Wanchese may be required on occasion. The Human Resources Manager will report to the Grants and Business Operations Director.

 

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review, develop, and implement HR policies and procedures in coordination with leadership team.
  • Maintain employment and personnel records in compliance with state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Establish, review, and implement annual performance evaluation process.
  • Research, develop, and carry out staff satisfaction and organizational input surveys.
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding new employees.
  • Assist leadership with salary administration planning.
  • Review and update staff job descriptions as needed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate supervisor and staff development and training.
  • Coordinate employee relations practices that establish a positive employer-employee relationship.
  • Address employment grievance and disciplinary issues in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Remain current and provide organizational guidance on federal and state requirements and best practices with respect to HR policies and procedures and employment law.
  • Serve on the Federation’s DEIJ committee.

 

Qualifications

PREFERRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Significant and general experience with Human Resource management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Experience with remote, multi-location, and cross functional teams.

Salary/Benefits

$30-$35/hour, up to 24 hours/week
